Salt Lake City, UTCustom Shopify development for Salt Lake City-area brands — from Sugar House and The Avenues to Sandy and Park City.

Solo Media Group is an overall top Shopify agency for Salt Lake City brands, and the reason is how Utah brands grow. They grow through ambassadors, affiliates and creators, not ads alone. We build Shopify stores that track every referral, pay commissions accurately and handle Utah's unusual food and gift-basket tax rules.
Most run them through an affiliate or creator app connected to Shopify, such as Shopify Collabs or a dedicated affiliate platform. Each ambassador gets a unique link and discount code, every order is credited to the right person, and commissions are calculated from the order data. The store, not a spreadsheet, becomes the record of who sold what.
What a well-run program needs:
Give each ambassador both a unique tracking link and a unique discount code. The link credits sales when shoppers click through. The code credits sales when they don't, such as when a friend passes on a code by text. Add UTM tags to every link so ambassador traffic shows up clearly in Shopify's marketing reports and Google Analytics.
Shopify's own attribution uses a last non-direct click model over 30 days, so an ambassador's link can lose credit to a later click. That's why discount codes matter: they record the referral at checkout. For the full picture, see Shopify marketing attribution explained.
In the US, anyone paid or rewarded to promote a product should clearly disclose it, including when the reward is free products or commission. A label such as "ad" or "paid partnership" belongs in the post itself. The disclosure needs to be easy to see, not hidden in a long list of hashtags. Brands are expected to tell ambassadors this and check that they follow it.

Salt Lake City's combined sales tax rate is 8.45% in 2026. Utah's state rate is 4.85%, and Salt Lake County, the city and local districts add the rest. Utah taxes by the buyer's delivery address, and combined rates across the state run from about 6.1% to just over 10%.
Shopify Tax applies the correct rate from each delivery address once you're registered.
Utah taxes grocery food at a reduced 3% statewide rate, while prepared food is taxed at the full local rate. But a product combining food and non-food items for one price, such as a gift basket, is taxed at the full rate on the whole thing. That catches out many gift and food brands.
| Product sold to a Salt Lake City customer | Tax rate |
|---|---|
| Packaged coffee or snacks | 3% (grocery rate) |
| Bread and crackers in the same order as a T-shirt | 3% on the food, 8.45% on the T-shirt |
| Gift basket of fruit in a wicker basket, one price | 8.45% on the whole basket |
| Ready-to-eat meal | 8.45% full rate |
Examples follow the Utah State Tax Commission's grocery food guidance.
So in Shopify, a gift box needs its own tax category, separate from the grocery items inside it.
Once their gross sales into Utah exceed $100,000 in the current or previous calendar year. Utah removed its 200-transaction test on July 1, 2025, so only sales value counts now. Tax-exempt sales count toward that total too, so brands can reach it sooner than expected.
Yes. Salt Lake City is on Mountain time, two hours behind our New York team, so we share most of your working day. Unlike Arizona, Utah observes daylight saving time, so the gap stays the same year-round. Builds start from $20,000 over 8 to 12 weeks, and retainers from $3,000 a month.
