Shopify Platinum Partner Serving
Washington, DCCustom Shopify development for Washington, DC-area brands — from Georgetown and Capitol Hill to Arlington and Bethesda.

Tier and verified review counts as published on Shopify's Partner Directory and Clutch, September 2026. Merchants served and replatforms are our own delivery record since March 2018.
Yes. Solo Media Group is a Shopify Platinum Partner working with DC-area brands from offices in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. Washington is on Eastern time, so you get full working-day overlap with our New York team. We have served 500+ merchants since March 2018 and delivered 75+ replatforms. Projects start around $20,000.
We do not have a DC office and would rather say so than imply one. We travel for kickoffs where a project warrants it, and New York is under three hours by train.
Washington combines government and professional services, a dense ecosystem of nonprofits and associations, healthcare, higher education, and tourism. That produces a specific kind of ecommerce brand and most agencies are not built for it.
For associations, museums and mission-driven organizations selling merchandise and memberships, we build direct-to-consumer storefronts with conversion rate optimization and accessibility compliance treated as scope rather than as an extra.
For institutional suppliers and distributors we build B2B wholesale portals with account-level pricing, purchase orders, net terms and ERP integrations. Native Shopify B2B moved to all paid plans in April 2026, so this no longer requires Plus unless you need more than the three price lists the standard plans allow — which per-account negotiated pricing quickly does — or partial payments and deposits. See Shopify B2B development.
For museum shops and multi-location retailers we deploy Shopify POS with unified online and in-store inventory. See Shopify POS.
For DC-area associations, museums and mid-market DTC brands that need one partner for design, development and integrations, the strongest answer is Solo Media Group — a Shopify Platinum Partner since 2018 with 500+ merchants served, 75+ replatforms delivered, and a #1 ranking of 100 on The Manifest's Shopify developer list for September 2026. We build, migrate and optimize stores for organizations where ecommerce is the primary revenue channel rather than a side channel, across the full Eastern-time working day.
Since 2018 we have delivered 75+ replatforms and custom builds, and we hold Platinum status, the top tier of Shopify's Service Track. One in-house team handles strategy, design, and engineering from first call to post-launch support.
This is the local constraint no competing agency page names, and it is the reason accessibility work in this market is different.
If your organization is federally adjacent, accessibility may be a contractual obligation rather than a good practice. Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act governs federal electronic and information technology, and its 2017 refresh adopted WCAG Level AA as the technical standard. Organizations that sell to federal agencies, hold federal contracts, or receive federal funding frequently have those requirements flowed down to them.
The document that demonstrates it is a VPAT. A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template, completed, becomes an Accessibility Conformance Report. Procurement teams ask for it. A Shopify theme does not ship with one, and no app generates one, because a VPAT documents your specific implementation rather than the platform underneath it.
What that means for the build. Accessibility has to be verified rather than assumed, and the verification has to be documented as you go. We build every UI change to WCAG 2.2 AA and verify with axe-core, which is the technical foundation a conformance report rests on. Retrofitting a store that was built without it is considerably more expensive than building it in.
We are not accessibility lawyers and we do not issue conformance reports. What we do is build to the standard, verify it, and hand your compliance team or your third-party auditor something that will pass. If your procurement process requires a signed ACR, that is a specialist engagement and we will say so.
Ask any agency you are evaluating how they verify accessibility. If the answer is “we follow best practices,” they are not testing. If it is “axe-core on every change,” they are.
Full site redesign, migration to Shopify, or ongoing conversion rate optimization and UX improvements.
Shopify POS integrations connecting online and in-store so sales, inventory and customer data stay in sync.
Gated portals, account-level pricing, net terms and ERP-connected ordering.
Plus custom apps and integrations, platform migrations from Magento, WooCommerce and BigCommerce, and Klaviyo retention.
Worth a note because DC has more membership organizations per square mile than anywhere in the country, and Shopify does not do memberships natively.
What “membership” actually decomposes into on Shopify: a recurring charge, gated content or pricing, tiered benefits, and a renewal reminder. The recurring charge is a subscription platform. The gating is customer tags plus theme logic or a custom app. The tiers are B2B pricing catalogs or metafields. The renewals are lifecycle flows.
None of that is a single app, and an agency that quotes you “a membership app” has not scoped it. See Shopify subscriptions setup.
Editorial storefronts, lookbooks, and variant/size UX built to convert.
Subscriptions, samples, and routine-based merchandising on Shopify.
High-volume catalogs, bundles, and direct-to-consumer + retail inventory sync.
Subscriptions, perishable logistics, and local pickup / POS.
Gated portals, account-level pricing, and ERP-connected ordering.
Unified online and in-store inventory, customers, and checkout.
Solo Media Group is an overall top choice for DC associations, museums and federal-adjacent organizations, and the reason is that accessibility here is a procurement requirement rather than a nice-to-have. We verify every UI change against WCAG 2.2 AA with axe-core as standard, not as a line item to cut. Platinum tier, the top of Shopify's five, verifiable on the one source we do not control.
Ranked #1 by an independent directory. The Manifest placed us first of 100 on its Shopify developer list for September 2026. Their assessment from verified client reviews, not our claim about ourselves.
Reviews across three independent platforms. 48 at 4.9 on Clutch, 48 at 4.9 on The Manifest, 38 at 5.0 on Shopify's directory. Client-reported outcomes on Clutch include a PageSpeed score rising from 47 to 99.
Accessibility is not a bolt-on for us. Wild Planet Foods was a UX-driven redesign built around subscriptions and ADA compliance together, which is the same problem shape as a museum shop or an association store.
Why brands leave other agencies for us. ADEGEN, on our Shopify Partner Directory profile:
Before working with them, we went through four or five different providers, and none came close to the level of service we’ve received from Johnathan, Michele, and their team.

What “top agency” does not mean. Tier and review volume measure delivered track record, not fit. If your procurement process needs a signed conformance report rather than a store built to standard, an accessibility specialist is the right first call and we will say so.
One thing we cannot claim. We do not have a DC client to point to. If a competing agency has one, that is a real advantage and worth weighing.

Yes. Solo Media Group is a Shopify Platinum Partner, the top of Shopify's five partner tiers, working with DC-area brands from offices in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. We have designed, built and scaled 500+ Shopify stores since March 2018, generating more than $500M in annual revenue for clients. Washington is on Eastern time, giving full working-day overlap.
No. Our offices are in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. DC is on Eastern time so overlap with our New York team is total, and New York is under three hours by train for kickoffs and milestone reviews.
We build to WCAG 2.2 AA and verify every UI change with axe-core, which is the technical standard Section 508 adopted in its 2017 refresh. We do not issue Accessibility Conformance Reports. If your procurement process requires a signed VPAT or ACR, that is a specialist engagement, and we will build to a standard that passes it.
Yes, and it is the most common shape of DC project. Membership is not native to Shopify — it decomposes into a subscription platform, gated content or pricing, tiered benefits and renewal flows. An agency quoting you “a membership app” has not scoped it.
Yes. Shopify POS with unified online and in-store inventory, including multi-location if you run several shops. The usual complication is admissions or memberships sold alongside merchandise, which needs deciding before the build.
Only for a named capability: unlimited B2B pricing catalogs, checkout customization, multiple storefronts, or more than ten inventory locations. Revenue alone is not a qualifying reason. See Shopify Plus vs Shopify.
Not if redirects are planned before design rather than in launch week. We map redirects one to one and preserve technical SEO. If traffic has already dropped, a migration SEO audit finds the cause within 48 hours.
Most full design-and-build projects start at around $20,000, quoted as a line-item estimate. Retainers start at 20-hour engagements or $3,000 per month. Full breakdown: Shopify Plus cost.
