Shopify Agency Seoul, South Korea

We're a Shopify Platinum Partner building custom Shopify and Shopify Plus stores for Seoul brands. The reason brands call us one of the top Shopify agencies: Platinum tier, the top of five, with 500+ merchants, 75+ replatforms and $500M+ in annual client GMV. Don't take our word for it — the directory is right here.

We don't have a Seoul office, and we're direct about what that means: asynchronous working with scheduled overlap rather than a shared working day.

Why Shopify businesses in Seoul choose SOLO MEDIA GROUP

Seoul drives South Korea's e-commerce across K-beauty, electronics, fashion, and entertainment, and its brands increasingly sell to global audiences. For the cosmetics and skincare labels the city is famous for, we build direct-to-consumer storefronts with subscription programs and conversion rate optimization tuned for international expansion and repeat purchase. For electronics and consumer-tech makers we build Shopify Plus experiences with ERP and inventory integrations, and for the fashion and lifestyle retailers around Seongsu-dong and Gangnam we implement Shopify POS across locations. We also deliver B2B and wholesale portals, ADA and accessibility work, and zero-downtime migrations. SOLO MEDIA GROUP has offices in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, and our senior developers combine AI-assisted workflows with hands-on engineering for mid-market to enterprise brands across South Korea.

What does a Shopify agency in Seoul actually need to solve?

Three things, and only one of them is the storefront. Korean shoppers expect local payment methods, principally Naver Pay and Kakao Pay, which Shopify does not support natively and which require gateway work. Cross-border selling needs bilingual configuration and local shipping APIs. And mobile-first is not a preference here, it is the default browsing context.

Get those three right and the rest of the build behaves like any other Shopify project. Get them wrong and a beautiful store fails at the payment step, which is the most expensive place to lose a customer.

The categories driving Seoul commerce

The Korean market rewards operators who understand it structurally rather than culturally. Figures below are as reported in industry sources rather than from our own measurement.

K-beauty has the most global headroom

Reported figures put the global K-beauty market at around $92 billion with roughly 9.3% annual growth, driven largely by online sales. For cosmetics and skincare labels we build direct-to-consumer storefronts with subscription programs and conversion rate optimization tuned for international expansion and repeat purchase. See Shopify for beauty brands.

Fashion drives cross-border demand

Roughly 45.5% of international purchases by South Korean consumers are reported to be in fashion, which cuts both ways: it is also the category where Korean brands sell outbound most successfully. For retailers around Seongsu-dong and Gangnam we implement Shopify POS across locations. See Shopify POS.

Electronics is systems work

Electronics and home appliances are among the strongest performing categories, and they are the ones where ecommerce development becomes systems work: ERP and inventory integration, complex catalog structures, warranty and serial tracking. See Shopify ERP integration.

Food and grocery is the quiet giant

Reported at around 20.6% of South Korean ecommerce transactions, with online grocery sales reportedly tripling since 2017 against a forecast of $16.53 billion for 2025. Subscription and replenishment cadence is the whole economics of that category.

Live commerce is the format to watch

Reported at $678 million in 2024 and growing around 36% annually. Live selling concentrates traffic into minutes rather than days, which is a concurrency and inventory problem before it is a marketing one.

Which payment methods do Korean shoppers expect?

Naver Pay and Kakao Pay, alongside domestic card networks. Neither is natively supported by Shopify Payments, so both require third-party gateway integration. Korean consumers expect to see them at checkout, and a store that cannot accept them loses conversions at the final step regardless of how well everything upstream performs.

This is the single most common reason a well-built store underperforms in the Korean market. Korean customers who reach checkout and cannot pay the way they normally pay do not switch method. They leave.

The work is gateway selection, integration, and checkout testing against real domestic cards. On Shopify Plus, checkout customization gives more control over how methods are presented and in what order, which matters when local methods need to sit above international cards rather than below them.

Every Korean project we scope has the same first question, and it is not about design. It is which payment methods you need at checkout and whether the gateway that supports them integrates cleanly. Get that answer wrong at the start and you rebuild checkout later.

"We worked with SMG to rebuild our site from the ground up. The project involved migrating from Magento, cleaning up years of technical debt, and setting up a new Shopify experience that finally feels clean, fast, and modern."

What we build for Seoul brands

Custom theme and design

A custom theme built for Korean shoppers on mobile, in Liquid rather than configured from a template. Mobile-first is the assumption, not an adaptation, because that is how the majority of browsing happens here. See Shopify Plus development.

Local payment integration

Naver Pay, Kakao Pay and domestic cards through gateway integration, tested against real transactions before launch.

Bilingual and cross-border configuration

Korean and English on the same site through Shopify Markets, with pricing, content and search engine optimization scoped per market rather than translated wholesale.

Local shipping and logistics APIs

Domestic carriers plus cross-border services, connected so delivery estimates appear on the product page rather than at checkout.

Subscription programs

Recharge, Stay.ai, Skio or Ordergroove for replenishment, plus Klaviyo lifecycle flows. For K-beauty this is where the return actually shows up. See Shopify subscriptions setup.

B2B and wholesale portals

Company accounts, account-level pricing and net terms for brands selling into retail alongside direct. See Shopify B2B development.

Platform migrations

From Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or custom platforms, with SEO preserved through one-to-one 301 redirects and effectively zero downtime. We have delivered 75+ replatforms. See Shopify Plus migration services.

Custom apps and integrations

Where nothing in Shopify's app ecosystem covers what the business needs. See Shopify app development.

Accessibility and site speed

WCAG 2.2 AA verified with axe-core, and performance optimization measured against real user field data rather than lab scores. Site speed is a conversion problem before it is a technical one. See Shopify speed optimization.

Ongoing support

Ongoing maintenance, analytics and store performance monitoring, and iterative conversion rate optimization after launching. The first 90 days is where most of the value gets captured.

How to choose a Shopify agency in Seoul

The same test applies whether you work with us or not.

  • Verify the tier on Shopify's Partner Directory, not the badge on the site. Five tiers: Registered, Select, Plus, Premier, Platinum. Listing there indicates real standing, and we are at Platinum. Verify it.
  • Ask specifically about Naver Pay and Kakao Pay. An agency that has not integrated either will discover the work mid-project. Ask which gateway they used and what broke.
  • Ask about bilingual configuration. Shopify Markets, hreflang and per-market SEO are a build decision made early, not a translation task done late.
  • Check the portfolio for mobile performance. Load two of their sites on your phone.
  • Ask for a clear proposal with deliverables, timeline and cost as line items.
  • Check client references. They tell you more about project management and collaboration than a case study page does.

FAQS

Seoul Shopify Partner FAQ

Not natively through Shopify Payments. Both require third-party gateway integration, which is standard work but needs scoping at the start rather than discovered later. Korean consumers expect these methods at checkout, so treating them as optional is the most common cause of underperformance in this market.

Yes, through Shopify Markets, with language, currency, pricing and content scoped per market. The build decision is which elements are shared and which are market-specific, and that should be settled before design rather than retrofitted.

No. Our offices are in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. We work with Korean brands asynchronously with scheduled overlap, written handoffs and a project lead who owns the timezone gap. If you need daily real-time contact, hire locally.

No. We do not run paid search, social media marketing or broader digital marketing campaigns. We build the retention side, meaning email marketing flows and subscriptions, because it is coupled to how the store is engineered. For acquisition in the Korean market you want a local specialist, and we will say so.

Only if you need custom checkout, multiple storefronts, per-account B2B pricing or more than ten inventory locations. For Korean brands the checkout argument is often the strongest, because control over how payment methods are presented and ordered matters more here than in most markets.

Yes — Solo Media Group serves Seoul, South Korea. We're a Shopify Platinum Partner that has designed, built, and scaled 500+ Shopify stores since March 2018 and delivered 75+ replatforms. We do not have a Seoul office. Seoul is 13 to 17 hours ahead of our New York, Miami and Los Angeles offices depending on the season, so we work asynchronously with scheduled overlap calls, detailed written handoffs, and a project lead who owns the timezone gap. If daily real-time contact is essential to how you work, a local agency is the better choice and we will say so.

Solo Media Group is a senior design and development studio for commerce brands. We design, build, and grow Shopify stores end to end — brand-led design, custom development and integrations, email and retention marketing, and ongoing support. One team handles strategy, design, engineering, and QA, so you're not stitching together multiple vendors.

We work with direct-to-consumer and retail-first brands across beauty, wellness, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, and specialty retail — from new-brand launches to established businesses replatforming or scaling. We're especially strong with brands that sell across multiple channels (direct-to-consumer, retail, wholesale, and POS).

A dedicated senior team: a Shopify solution engineer for architecture, engineers for development and custom apps, e-commerce-focused designers, a Klaviyo/email specialist for retention, and a project lead who runs communication and keeps the work on schedule. You work with the same team throughout — no hand-offs to junior staff.

We run a proven four-phase design process in Figma: (1) Brand discovery — a brand exercise, asset collection, competitive landscape, and a mood board; (2) Concepts and mood boarding — early creative directions that establish the visual language, tone, and feel before full design; (3) Full site design — iterative design of every key page; (4) Handoff — final designs with engineering notes, then development.

Yes — Shopify and Shopify Plus are our core platform. We build custom themes, apps, and integrations, and we architect stores for performance, maintainability, and growth.

Standard Shopify fits most single-brand stores. Shopify Plus adds enterprise features and lets you run up to 10 storefronts ("expansion stores") under one organization — useful if you operate multiple brands, currencies, or regions. We'll recommend the right plan based on your structure; you purchase the Shopify license directly.

Yes. We build on editable, well-structured themes so your team can update content and pages without opening a development ticket for every change. We also provide documentation and a walkthrough at handoff.

Yes. We build custom middleware and apps to connect Shopify with the systems your business runs on — ERPs and POS systems, Salesforce and other CRMs, subscription platforms, and custom logic unique to your business. Integrations are scoped up front so they're reliable and maintainable.

Yes. For brands with physical retail, we set up Shopify POS and keep inventory in sync between online and in-store, so both channels run off one source of truth.

Yes. We build B2B and wholesale experiences using Shopify Plus's native B2B features — gated portals, tax-exempt handling, customer-specific pricing, and automated renewals — often connected to your CRM.

Yes. We regularly migrate stores to Shopify from Magento / Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, OpenCart, and other platforms — including the design, data, and integration work required to run the new store.

Yes. One-to-one 301 redirect mapping planned before launch, a content audit of top-ranking pages, and a fresh sitemap after cutover. We have delivered 75+ replatforms and protect search rankings as a core part of how we plan a migration rather than a launch-week task.

Yes. We migrate products, variants/SKUs, customers, and order history, along with catalog structure, collections, and metafields. For large catalogs we confirm the exact data scope (for example, how much order history to bring over) during discovery.

A typical new build runs about 8–12 weeks from design kickoff to launch. Smaller, more focused builds can be 4–6 weeks. Migrations depend on data and integration complexity.

The biggest factor is how quickly feedback comes back from your side. With a single decision-maker and prompt, consolidated feedback each round, we move fast; with multiple stakeholders and longer review cycles, timelines extend. Custom integrations and data migration also affect scope.

When speed matters — for a retail debut or seasonal launch — we can compress the design phase and run multiple design teams in parallel across projects. Focused builds can launch in as little as 8 weeks with quick turnarounds on approvals.

Design-and-build projects start around $20,000, quoted as line items so you can see exactly what each piece costs and add or remove pieces. Retainers start at 20 hours or $3,000 per month. The figure moves with scope, integrations, and whether it's a net-new build or a migration.

Projects are billed against milestones — for example, a percentage on signing to begin design, at design approval, at development start, and at launch. Invoices are typically net 15. We agree on the schedule up front in the statement of work.

Both. Many engagements are fixed-scope projects; others are ongoing retainers for continuous design and development. Retainers start at 20-hour engagements or $3,000/month, and for brands with variable workloads we can combine project (tranche) billing with a small retainer to keep us on call.

Yes. If you have your own development team, we can provide design-only services and deliver production-ready Figma files for your engineers to build.

Yes. We integrate Klaviyo with your store and build core lifecycle flows — welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, and post-purchase — plus campaigns and segmentation strategy.

Yes. If your sender reputation has suffered, we rebuild it methodically — for example, using high-engagement, protected sending to restore reputation before scaling campaigns again — and set up segmentation and win-back flows to improve retention.

Yes. We set up subscription programs on platforms like Stay.ai and ReCharge, and we can migrate subscription communications into Klaviyo for better segmentation. Subscriptions work well for routine- and regimen-based products to lock in recurring revenue.

Yes. We set up GA4, marketing pixels (Google, Meta, TikTok), product feeds for Google and Meta, and reviews that syndicate to Google Shopping and Facebook — so your tracking and ad infrastructure are ready at launch.

Every build goes through dedicated QA — cross-device and cross-browser testing, checkout and integration testing, and pre-launch bug fixing — before it ships. All work lives in version control, so changes are reviewed and reversible.

Yes. Builds include a 30-day post-launch support window for fixes on the original scope, and ongoing support is available through flexible retainers for continued design, development, and optimization.

We adapt to your process. We work in your project management tool (such as Asana), share a Slack channel for real-time questions, hold weekly syncs, and provide transparent time and progress reporting so you always know where things stand.

Does Solo Media Group serve Seoul, South Korea?

Yes. We are a Shopify Platinum Partner working with Seoul brands from offices in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. We have served 500+ merchants since March 2018 and delivered 75+ replatforms, rated 5.0 from 38 reviews on the Shopify Partner Directory. We do not have a Seoul office, and the time difference means asynchronous working with scheduled overlap rather than a shared working day.

That last point is worth being direct about. Seoul is 13 to 17 hours ahead of our offices depending on the office and the season. We handle that with detailed written handoffs, scheduled overlap calls, and a project lead who owns the timezone gap rather than leaving you to manage it. If daily real-time contact is essential to how you work, a local agency is the better choice and we will say so.

Tell us your platform, your revenue range, and which payment methods you need at checkout. Those three answers settle most of the scope.
