We are a Shopify Platinum Partner — the top tier of Shopify’s Service Track. We design, build, and maintain Shopify Plus stores for brands that have outgrown their theme, and our clients generate more than $500M a year on stores we built.
What to expect
Trusted by teams that scale on Shopify Plus
What a Shopify Plus development agency does
A Shopify Plus development agency builds and maintains stores on Shopify’s enterprise plan, handling work the platform’s standard tools can’t cover: custom theme development, private apps, ERP and POS integrations, B2B and wholesale portals, multi-store and multi-currency setups, and checkout customization through Shopify Functions.
Shopify Plus gives you the platform — up to 10 expansion storefronts under one organization, higher API limits, checkout extensibility, and native B2B. What it doesn’t give you is the engineering to use any of it. That is the gap an agency fills.
Only agencies at the Plus tier or above can access Plus-only APIs and are vetted on delivered enterprise work. Solo Media Group sits at Platinum, the top of that ladder, and has worked with over 500 Shopify merchants since March 2018 — including 75+ replatforms and net-new builds. Strategy, design, engineering, and QA come from one senior team, so you are not coordinating between a design shop and a dev shop.
What’s included
Custom theme development
Built on editable, well-structured themes your team can update without filing a dev ticket. Documentation and a walkthrough at handoff.
Custom apps and middleware
Connecting Shopify to ERPs, POS systems, Salesforce and other CRMs, subscription platforms, and logic specific to your business. Scoped up front so it stays maintainable. Medik8: a reusable bundle-builder app running across every market they sell in.
B2B and wholesale
Gated portals, customer-specific pricing, tax-exempt handling, and automated renewals on native Shopify Plus B2B, connected to your CRM. Elm Biosciences: a separate portal where dermatologists apply, order, and access education.
Retail and Shopify POS
Online and in-store inventory running off one source of truth, for brands with physical retail alongside DTC.
Migrations
From Magento and Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, OpenCart, and custom platforms. Products, variants, customers, order history, collections, and metafields — with redirect mapping planned before launch, not after.
Retention and email
Klaviyo integration plus core lifecycle flows — welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase. Subscriptions on Stay.ai or ReCharge.
Analytics and feeds
GA4, Google/Meta/TikTok pixels, product feeds, and review syndication to Google Shopping — configured before launch.
Ongoing engineering
Most clients stay with us for years rather than treating launch as the finish line. Retainers from 20 hours or $3,000 per month.
What it costs
Most Solo Media Group design-and-build projects start at around $20,000. Ongoing retainers start at 20-hour engagements or $3,000 per month. Every project is quoted as a line-item estimate, so you can see what each piece costs and add or cut scope before signing.
| Factor | Effect on cost |
|---|---|
| Net-new build vs. migration | Migrations add data mapping, redirect planning, and integration rebuild |
| Number of integrations | Each ERP, CRM, or POS connection is scoped separately |
| Custom apps | Bespoke functionality costs more than configuration |
| Catalog size and order history | Large catalogs extend migration scope |
| B2B or multi-store | Portals, pricing rules, and expansion stores add build time |
| Design scope | Full brand-led design vs. building from your existing Figma files |
Billing runs against milestones — a percentage on signing, at design approval, at development start, and at launch. Invoices are net 15. The schedule is agreed in the statement of work before work begins.
Your Shopify Plus license is purchased directly from Shopify and is separate from agency fees.
How long it takes
A typical new Shopify Plus build takes 8–12 weeks from design kickoff to launch. Focused builds can ship in 4–6 weeks. Migrations depend on data volume and integration complexity.
The largest variable is not our capacity — it is feedback speed. One decision-maker giving prompt, consolidated feedback each round moves fast. Multiple stakeholders with long review cycles extend the timeline.
When a date is fixed for a retail debut or a seasonal launch, we compress the design phase and run design teams in parallel.
How we work
Seven stages, in order, every time. Your team sees the same faces from discovery through launch.
Discovery
Brand exercise, asset collection, competitive landscape, mood board. Exact data scope for migrations is confirmed here.
Concepts
Early creative directions that establish visual language and tone before full design begins.
Full site design
Iterative design of every key page in Figma.
Handoff to engineering
Final designs delivered with engineering notes.
Build
Theme development, custom apps, integrations. All work in version control, so every change is reviewed and reversible.
QA
Cross-device and cross-browser testing, checkout and integration testing, pre-launch bug fixing.
Launch, plus 30 days
A 30-day post-launch support window for fixes on original scope. A retainer covers what comes after.
Who works on your project: a Shopify solution engineer on architecture, engineers on development and custom apps, e-commerce designers, a Klaviyo specialist for retention, and a project lead running communication. The same team throughout — no handoff to junior staff after the pitch.
We work in your tools: your project management system, a shared Slack channel, weekly syncs, and transparent time reporting.
Who we’re not the right fit for
We would rather say this now than three weeks into a project.
- Budgets under $20,000. Below that, a quality Plus build is not realistic. A strong Shopify theme and a good freelancer will serve you better, and we will say so on the call.
- Brands shopping for the cheapest bid. We are built to be more reliable than a large agency and more capable than a freelancer, not the lowest number in your inbox.
- One-off ticket work. Most of our clients stay for years. If you need a single bug fixed, a support retainer fits better than a project.
- Teams that cannot consolidate feedback. Our timelines assume a decision-maker who can approve each round. Without one, the schedule slips and neither of us enjoys it.
Frequently asked questions
Is Solo Media Group a certified Shopify partner?
Yes. Solo Media Group is a Shopify Platinum Partner — the top tier of Shopify’s Service Track, held by roughly 86 agencies worldwide. We have been a Shopify partner since March 2018 and are rated 5.0 from 37 reviews on the Shopify Partner Directory. You can verify both on our directory profile.
What does a Shopify Plus development agency cost?
Full design-and-build projects with Solo Media Group start at around $20,000, with ongoing retainers from $3,000 per month or 20-hour engagements. Final cost depends on integrations, custom apps, catalog size, and whether it is a net-new build or a migration. Every quote is line-itemed.
How long does a Shopify Plus build take?
A typical new build runs 8–12 weeks from design kickoff to launch. Focused builds can launch in 4–6 weeks. Migrations vary with data volume and integration complexity. Feedback turnaround is the biggest factor in hitting the earlier end of the range.
What’s the difference between Shopify and Shopify Plus?
Standard Shopify fits most single-brand stores. Shopify Plus adds enterprise features and lets you run up to 10 expansion storefronts under one organization — useful for multiple brands, currencies, or regions. It also adds checkout extensibility, native B2B, and higher API limits. We recommend the right plan for your structure; you buy the license from Shopify directly.
Will I lose SEO traffic when I migrate to Shopify Plus?
Not if redirects are mapped before launch. We plan redirect mapping and preserve technical SEO as part of migration scope rather than as a post-launch fix. We have replatformed stores with no SEO dip after launch.
Can my team edit the site after launch?
Yes. We build on editable, well-structured themes so your team can update content and pages without a development ticket for every change. You get documentation and a walkthrough at handoff.
Do you build custom apps and integrations?
Yes. We build custom middleware and private apps connecting Shopify to ERPs, POS systems, Salesforce and other CRMs, subscription platforms, and custom business logic. Integrations are scoped up front so they stay reliable and maintainable.
Can you support B2B and wholesale on Shopify Plus?
Yes. We build gated portals, customer-specific pricing, tax-exempt handling, and automated renewals on native Shopify Plus B2B features, usually connected to your CRM. Elm Biosciences is one example — a separate portal where dermatologists apply, order, and access education.
What platforms do you migrate from?
Magento and Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, OpenCart, WordPress, and custom platforms. We migrate products, variants, customers, order history, collections, and metafields, and confirm exact data scope during discovery.
Do you offer design-only engagements?
Yes. If you have an in-house development team, we deliver production-ready Figma files for your engineers to build from.
What happens after launch?
Every build includes a 30-day post-launch support window for fixes on original scope. Ongoing work continues through a retainer — most of our clients stay on for years rather than treating launch as the finish line.
