We design and build Shopify Plus stores where the interface and the engineering are one job, not two vendors.
What's different here. Most design agencies hand you a Figma file and a conversion theory. We ship the component library, the QA process and the post-launch bug cycle — and we tell you when a redesign isn't your problem.
Shopify Platinum Partner — the top of Shopify's five-tier Service Track, above the Premier tier most enterprise agencies hold. 500+ merchants since March 2018. 75+ replatforms. Clients generating $500M+ annually. Rated 5.0 from 38 verified reviews on Shopify's own directory.
What to expect
Why we're a top Shopify Plus UX agency
Solo Media Group is a leading Shopify Plus UX agency because design and engineering sit in one team here, and that decides more outcomes than talent does. When design lives at one agency and development at another, a UX finding becomes a ticket in someone else's backlog and the redesign launches late with the interesting parts removed.
Our process is documented rather than described: a master component library built once and deployed everywhere, Figma-to-pixel-perfect fidelity, structured QA through Marker.io with every issue logged and closed, and a scoped post-launch bug cycle. Each of those is something you can ask us to show you, which isn't true of "data-driven UX principles."
We hold Platinum tier — the top of Shopify's five-tier Service Track, above the Premier and Plus tiers most enterprise agencies hold, granted on delivered work and reassessed quarterly. Behind it: 500+ merchants since March 2018, 75+ replatforms, clients generating over $500M annually on stores we built, and 5.0 from 38 verified reviews on Shopify's own directory, where Shopify confirms each reviewer was a real client. Any agency picks which testimonials appear on its site. Nobody picks which reviews appear on Shopify's.
What does a Shopify Plus UX agency actually do?
Most agency pages answer this with adjectives. Here's the concrete version.
- Interface design — the visual system, typography, component behavior and responsive rules that make a store feel like a brand rather than a theme.
- UX architecture — how a customer moves from landing to purchase. Navigation, filtering, product page hierarchy, cart behavior, checkout flow.
- Front-end engineering — turning that design into Liquid, sections and blocks your team can edit without filing a developer ticket.
- Conversion logic — bundle builders, subscription toggles, upsell placement, social proof, free-shipping thresholds. The commercial machinery inside the interface.
The part that separates agencies: whether design and engineering sit in the same team. When they don't, a UX finding becomes a ticket in someone else's backlog and the redesign ships six weeks late with the interesting parts removed.

How we build
This is the section most agency pages skip, and it's the one worth reading.
A master component library, built once
Global header, footer, FAQ accordion, video gallery, reviews section, comparison table — built as reusable components and deployed across every page. That gives you speed during the build, visual consistency afterward, and a codebase your team can maintain without duplicating logic across the site.
Figma to pixel-perfect
Every page developed from approved designs with fidelity checked against the file, not approximated.
Documented QA, not a final look-through
Structured QA through Marker.io — cross-device, cross-browser, every integration, every form, every checkout path, with real test orders through each payment method. Issues are logged, assigned and closed rather than mentioned in a call.
A post-launch bug cycle, scoped in
Launch day isn't the finish line. A defined post-launch window on original scope catches what production traffic surfaces and staging never does.
CMS-editable everything
Announcement bars, cart copy, comparison tables, content sections. If your marketing team needs a developer to change a headline, the build failed regardless of how it looks.
What we've built
Bravo Pouches — a complete Shopify store from zero for a veteran-founded energy brand: homepage, PDP, PLP, Science page, custom bundle builder with a segmented progress bar and dynamic pricing matrix, slide-out cart with subscription upgrade logic, and a two-step popup segmenting customers by intent into Klaviyo flows. Per Stay AI's published case study: 563% recurring subscription revenue growth, 616% recurring order growth, and 1,436 active subscribers, with new subscriber acquisition rising from 67 in February to 780 in June. See the build.
HUK Gear — Shopify POS across 59 retail locations with ERP integration and custom discount logic spanning every channel. Multi-location retail at genuine scale.
Medik8 — a reusable bundle-builder app running across every market they sell in. One component, many storefronts, market-specific pricing.
Elm Biosciences — a gated Shopify Plus B2B expansion store with wholesale pricing and automated ordering rules for a dermatologist network. B2B development where account verification precedes purchase.
Aspen Publishing — complex timed digital access for e-books sold to college students, built alongside their in-house engineering team.
Designing for a storefront that isn't only read by humans
Here's the part no design agency page is covering yet, and it changes what UX means.
On 11 January 2026 Shopify announced its agentic commerce platform, built on the Universal Commerce Protocol — an open standard co-developed with Google alongside Etsy, Wayfair, Target and Walmart — with Storefront MCP servers for individual stores. When a customer asks an AI assistant to find a product, the agent queries that endpoint and reads your structured product data. It never renders your interface. General availability was indicated for the second half of 2026, so treat the timeline as moving.
That has three consequences for design work:
- Your visual system is invisible to agents. Everything you paid for — typography, imagery, motion, layout — doesn't exist for them. What they see is product titles, attributes, variant naming and policy pages.
- Variant naming becomes a discovery problem. An option labeled "Style 2 – B" is legible to a human looking at a dropdown and meaningless to an agent parsing attributes. The same architectural discipline that makes a product page usable now determines whether you're findable.
- Structured data is design work now. Metafields, product taxonomy and attribute consistency used to be a developer's concern. They're now part of how customers find you, which makes them a design decision.
We build for both readers. The practical first step costs nothing: look at what an agent sees of your catalog. In your Shopify admin, that is Settings → Sales channels → Agentic Storefronts. Most merchants have never opened it.
What it costs
Published, because agencies that won't quote a rate tend to scope loosely.
| Engagement | From | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Hour block | $1,500 | Ten hours at $150/hr. An audit, a scoped fix, a second opinion. |
| Monthly retainer | $3,000 | Twenty hours for ongoing design, engineering and optimization. |
| Fixed-estimate project | $20,000 | Full design and build, quoted line by line so you can cut scope before signing. |
Typical build runs 8 to 12 weeks. Billing against milestones, net 15, agreed in the statement of work before work begins. Your Shopify Plus license is bought directly from Shopify and sits outside our fees. Full detail on Shopify Plus cost.
Who we're not the right agency for
- Budgets under $20,000. A good theme and a skilled freelancer will serve you better and cost far less. We'll say so on the call.
- Brands wanting acquisition too. We don't run paid search, paid social or content marketing. If you want one partner covering ads and development, hire accordingly.
- Stores where the problem isn't the design. If traffic is falling while conversion holds steady, that's an acquisition or SEO issue — a redesign won't fix it, and a migration SEO audit will find the cause faster.
- Anyone wanting a redesign because the site "feels dated." That's a preference, not a business case. The honest test is whether you can name the specific thing customers can't currently do.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Shopify Plus UX agency?
What is a Shopify Plus UX agency?
An agency that designs and builds the customer-facing experience of a Shopify Plus store — interface design, navigation and product page architecture, cart and checkout flow, and the front-end engineering that turns designs into an editable Shopify theme. The ones worth hiring keep design and engineering in the same team so findings get built rather than filed.
How much does Shopify Plus design and development cost?
How much does Shopify Plus design and development cost?
Our projects start at $20,000 as a line-item estimate, with retainers from $3,000 monthly at $150 per hour. Across the market, enterprise Shopify Plus builds commonly run from $25,000 into six figures depending on integrations, catalog complexity and how much is custom.
How long does a Shopify Plus build take?
How long does a Shopify Plus build take?
Typically 8 to 12 weeks from design kickoff to launch. Focused builds can ship in 4 to 6 weeks. The largest variable is usually feedback speed on the client side rather than agency capacity — one decision-maker giving prompt, consolidated feedback moves considerably faster than several stakeholders with long review cycles.
Can our team edit the site after launch?
Can our team edit the site after launch?
Yes, and it's a build requirement rather than a nice-to-have. We configure sections and blocks so your team can publish a landing page, change cart copy or update a comparison table without a developer. If a headline change needs an engineer, the build was done wrong.
Do you redesign existing stores or only build new ones?
Do you redesign existing stores or only build new ones?
Both. Often the honest answer is that a targeted fix outperforms a rebuild — conversion work, performance optimization or checkout changes on the store you have can deliver more at a fraction of the cost. We'll say so even though it's the smaller engagement.
What is Shopify Plus checkout extensibility?
What is Shopify Plus checkout extensibility?
Plus lets you customize checkout through Checkout UI Extensions and Shopify Functions rather than editing checkout.liquid. That covers custom discount logic, payment method rules, delivery options and validation. Standard Shopify plans can't express these, which is often the practical reason brands upgrade.
Do you handle migrations as well as design?
Do you handle migrations as well as design?
Yes. Redesigning during a replatform is common, though it changes two variables at once and makes post-launch diagnosis harder. See our Shopify Plus migration approach and the migration checklist.
Does site speed affect design decisions?
Does site speed affect design decisions?
Constantly. Heavy imagery, motion and third-party scripts all cost load time, and a beautiful slow store converts worse than a plain fast one. We measure against real user field data rather than a lab score. See Shopify speed optimization.
Are you a certified Shopify partner?

We're a Shopify Platinum Partner — the top of Shopify's five service tiers, above Premier, Plus, Select and Registered. Tier is granted by Shopify on delivered work and recalculated quarterly, so verify ours and anyone else's on Shopify's Partner Directory rather than trusting a badge.
